  • The Outbound Program is developed to help students strengthen their 'global' major competencies by participating short-term programs related to thier major from overseas universities, sister universities, etc.

Program Contents

Study Period

  • Possible to choose between the Summer/Winter break

Region

  • Possible to choose institution, as long as credit transfer is possible

The number of Participants

  • four or more students +academic advisor (leading professor)

Details

  • Student Financial Support: The amount of support amount per student is determined by the Selection Committee.
  • Academic Credit Approval : After approved through the Office of Academic Affairs, credits obtained during a summer/winter curriculum program at the outbound college will be recognized as seasonal semester credits. However, the credits must meet the Hongik University's credit standard (1 credit per 15 hour lecture), and the earned number of credits will be determined by the Selection Committee. Also, academic credits of graduate students are NOT be recognized.
※ A grade transcript to prove acquisition of academic credits issued by the corresponding institution must be obtained.

  • A department or an individual professor who can lead a program to help students' 'global' major competencies

Program Selection

  • The most outstanding programs are reviewed and picked by the Selection Committee based on the applied Outbound Programs' plan details

Evaluation Standard for program Selection

  • The program's content and class hours to be covered
    • The overseas college (or sister school) program's relevancy to the major
    • The overseas college (or sister school) must offer credit recognition (transcription issuance possibility)
    • Priotrity to programs with specialized area of education (e.g. related fields to the 4th Industrial Revolution, 'Industry meets Art' etc.)
    • Other students in similar departments at Hongik University should easily participate
  • The appropriate budget plan
  • The program contents
    • The outbound program's academic content & instructors
  • The management of the students' facilities such as accommodation, etc.

N.B.

  • It must be confirmed whether students can acquire academic credits
  • The responsibility of academic advisor's management and supervision
  • Students must prepare a traveler's insurance before departure
  • Unrelated travelling, touring, language training, or field trips should be avoided
  • The budget plan should be realistically enforceable
Overseas Internship Program
Overseas Internship Program
  • The Overseas Internship Program is developed to help students strengthen their 'global' major competencies
  • The purpose is to gain employment competency, to experience overseas businesses and to improve their skills needed to support their job performance.

Program Contents

Training period

  • Possible to choose between the Summer/Winter break

Region

  • Possible to choose from overseas companies which can issue completion of internship certificates & student evaluation reports

The number of Participants

  • two or more students + a academic advisor (leading professor)
    (The academic advisor can manage the program locally)

Details

  • Student Financial Support : The amount of support amount per student is determined by the Selection Committee
  • Academic Credit Approval : Students must participate in a program 8 weeks or longer to meet the regulations for Overseas Internship credit recognition. 'Overseas Internship(2 or 3 credits)' is approved for students who completed the program. (Graduate students cannot receive credits)
※ A certificate to prove activities performed & internship hours issued by the corresponding institution must be obtained.

Eligibility

  • A department or an individual professor who can lead an overseas internship program

Program Selection

  • The most outstanding internship programs are reviewed and picked by the Selection Committee based on the applied training programs' plan details

Evaluation Standard for Program Selection

  • Conducting overseas internship program in countries where safety is secured
    • The excellence of the overseas company where the internship will be held
    • The institution must offer evaluation reports after completion of the internship
    • The internship should offer potential for future employment
    • The relevance to the student's major & college's specialization areas
  • Programs including visa plans
  • The institution should offer financial support (accommodation, daily expenses, airfare, etc.)
  • Programs at least 4-weeks or longer
  • Orientation availability
  • Unrelated travelling, touring, language training, or field trips should be avoided
  • The budget plan should be realistically enforceable

Requirements for Overseas Internship Programs

  • The academic advisor must recruit & select students fairly
    • Must submit : recruitment notice, evaluation report, etc.
  • Participating students must meet the standard to receive scholarships. And in case a student does not complete their internship program, they must return the received scholarship.
    • Eligibilty of Participating Students
      (1) Undergraduate or graduate students who are able to travel overseas
      (2) Excluding students who are expected to graduate February, 2021
  • Must submit a final report (the academic advisor's overall & expense report and the students' individual report), as well as results (when applicable)
  • Must prepare traveler's insurance before departure
  • Conducting satisfaction survey for the participants of the internship program
